MESSAGE FROM THE COMMANDER Hello Legionnaires, It has been very hot. I hope that everyone is doing fine. If you know someone who lives alone and elderly please check on them or let us know so one of us can. I hope to see a better turnout for our General Membership meetings that are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Please attend. We hope to see you there. Our Auxiliary needs everyone’s support! They have reopened the kitchen on Friday nights. Come by and enjoy a night out. All we will be having a little more entertainment, such as: karaoke and bands. Don’t be a drag - Come relax and enjoy some great food & entertainment. Thanks to everyone who has paid their 2011 dues. You will be rewarded in October. I will treat you to a nice breakfast. Watch the Calendar for upcoming events. Remember - It’s never too late to pay your dues. Pool Tournaments are back. Please sign up by 3:30pm. The games will start at 4:00pm. For God and Country Bobby Ray Commander The Convention in Odessa brought great honor to our Legion family. Dazia Apland was honored with Jr. Member of the Year for the State of Texas. AUXILIARY NEWS Hello Auxiliary Members, This is your new president calling for ya’ll to attend the meetings so I can get to know you. I need everyone’s help to make this unit the best it can be. We have the kitchen open again each Friday night. Bring your family and friends out to eat. Our unit will be hosting a leadership school on Aug. 6th. Please be here to welcome the other units. Our speaker is Kim Palasota. The convention in Odessa was very exciting. Next year we will have one of our own 6th District members-Marty Peters as state president. Hello Squadron 522 It’s been an extremely hot summer hope that everyone is staying cool and checking on your elderly neighbors. We will be meeting August 10th , so I hope to see you all there to begin our new year. Everyone’s help is needed in keeping this Squadron going. Get your tickets now for a chance to win a nice gas grill or $50 cash. The fundraising drawing will be held on Oct. 22nd at the Chili Cook Off . Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. All of you chili cookers need to get your pans & recipes together and join the fun. More info will be available later. August 20th -2604 road clean up. It takes about 2 hours, the more that show up the less time we have to spend out there. Tickets for the SAL 6th District Fund Raiser will be September 10th in Cleburne. Tickets are on sale now in the Club Room. Ticket includes Dinner, Auction , Dance and cash prizes of 1st -$250, 2nd -$100 and 3rd $50 - all for one $5 ticket. Please help support this as the SAL donates $500 a year to Children & Youth. Our 2012 Membership Cards are in and we will have them at the meeting August 10th at 6:30 PM. I’ll be looking for you.
